23rd September, 2008 Brendan Dineen Director 2012 Games – Think London
INTRODUCTION
- Hello -and firstly let me congratulate China on a fabulous 2008 Games.
- I was fortunate to be in Beijing during the games and I can confirm that it was every bit as spectacular, well organised and successful as reported. My congratulations to the athletes, the Chinese Government, BOCOG and Business Leaders on delivering an outstanding Games.
- And this month a special welcome to many of those business leaders joining our community. It was a pleasure to meet so many of you in Beijing and we very much look forward to helping your businesses join us in London to access the business opportunities both inside – and outside – our own Games in 2012. Also, welcome to business leaders from Tianjin, Qingdao and Shanghai who we have been meeting on the "Road to London" – the reception we have received in all these cities has been very encouraging – and I welcome you to our 2012 Foreign Investment community – and this update document which aims to share key business information around the London 2012 Games.
- Meanwhile, 8,000 KMs from Beijing – activity in London around the 2012 Games has been continuing a pace with new sponsors and contract opportunities being announced – as well as many Foreign businesses making the shortlist for key contracts – with others on the way for which we can compete.
